We live in an era of great change and disruption. We also live in a world where many aspects of business are being disrupted by innovative cutting-edge technologies and innovative ways of thinking. Old business models are being challenged by advances in mobile and cloud computing, big data, crowdsourcing and 3D printing. While these changes carry risks, they also create extraordinary opportunities for the companies that can capitalize on these trends.
At UPS, we thrive on change. Since our founding as a bicycle messenger service in 1907, we have survived two World Wars, the Great Depression and – not least – the advent of the telephone, the automobile and the Internet, each of which compelled us to retool our business model. And we’re still changing.
UPS created this blog as a forum to share not just our thoughts and views on the trends reshaping the global economy, but those of the true thought leaders in topics ranging from trade to transportation, ecommerce to emerging markets, Big Data to … well, whatever the future holds.
We love a good debate, so we created Longitudes: Delivered by UPS as a home for vigorous discussions on the issues and trends of interest to any business with global operations or aspirations. Which means that the views stated on this blog do not necessarily represent the official positions of UPS.
We welcome the re-use, republication, and distribution of our UPS-bylined content – just as long as you credit us. So we ask that you insert the following tagline when you use our content:
